F&G’s collaborations with e2i and NTUC

F&G Food Pte Ltd has been in business for 29 years and since 2011, we have established ourselves as one of Singapore’s few leading manufacturers and distributors in quality Chinese sausages and various kinds of waxed meats under our brands, including our signature ‘Golden Palm’ brand.

The distinctive brand logo is made up of an interlocked “flying” thumbs up, a symbol that points towards Golden Palm’s global aspirations. Crowned by a triple AAA, this is meant to convey the highest quality that one can expect from Our Brand and is sealed with a dual thumbprint to symbolize integrity and trust. The Brand Name is also written in both English and Chinese to extend bilingual capacity as Golden Palm embarks on its journey to cities around the world. The Brand logo is in red, a color traditionally regarded by the Chinese as auspicious.

Golden Palm is well regarded in Singapore and as of May 2014, has been listed at every supermarket in Singapore and was awarded the Promising Brands at the Singapore Prestige Brand Award 2014.

As our company continues to grow and expand, we are committed to ensuring that our business and workforce remain relevant amidst evolving industry standards. That is why we have been partnering with NTUC’s Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) since 2018 on various initiatives such as the WorkPro Job Redesign Grant. On 5 September 2023, we signed an MOU with the Food, Drinks and Allied Workers Union (FDAWU) to form a Company Training Committee (CTC), signifying our commitment to jointly embark on transformation projects, with support from the NTUC CTC Grant. We are honored that Mr Desmond Tan, Deputy Secretary-General of NTUC, and Ms Caryn Lim, CEO of NTUC’s e2i graced and witnessed the signing ceremony with FDAWU, alongside four other employers representing a total of 11 companies.

We believe that NTUC CTC can play a pivotal role in our business transformation journey, especially as we are expanding our production capacity to cater to the growing demand for overseas exports to Malaysia, Indonesia, China, and Japan. Our company is committed to enhancing our business processes and empowering our employees through upskilling. However, like many SME owners, most of our time is spent meeting with partners, suppliers, and vendors, which are essential for our business operations. With the help of NTUC’s e2i and FDAWU, we put our heads together to explore how we can drive our business transformation goals forward, leveraging support from our CTC.

We attended a hands-on workshop to hear from fellow CTC companies on how they have benefitted from CTC formation as well as their manpower initiatives with e2i. FDAWU, NTUC Industry Training & Transformation (IT&T) and e2i joined hands to understand our business plans and guide us in scoping our transformation project. With their support, we plan to upgrade our conventional gas drying ovens to fully automated industrial smokehouses to boost productivity and provide an easier, safer, and smarter work environment for our employees. Our employees will also gain relevant technological skills to operate the machinery.

As a CTC company, our insights are valued in discussions that contribute to national-level decisions as well. As Budget 2024 loomed close, NTUC Economic Policy team engaged us to understand ground sensing across various workforce segments. We were delighted to have this opportunity to support our Brothers and Sisters from NTUC, and speedily organised an engagement session in less than two weeks. We invited our community of like-minded business partners, bosses and professionals to participate in this session, where we shared our sentiments and CTC journey. It was an insightful sharing, and everyone agreed that we had learnt a lot from NTUC and one another.
